Healthy Weight Loss Means Staying Consistent

This post will help explain why being consistent will payoff for you and any of your weight loss and fitness goals that you set in the long run. Nothing comes easy, but again, rewarding yourself with realistic goals that you can meet and exceed is all the satisfaction you need.

A good start for anyone would be to research and join the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge. All you must do is commit 90 days to improve your overall health and nutrition and you will see results. I can help you get started if interested so contact me from this blog or visit us at http://www.justwant.bodybyvi.com/ for more information.

Consistency is a very important part of any weight loss or training program. Start by brainstorming and setting yourself up with a realistic workout schedule. Don't try to do to much that will cause you to fail! Take into consideration all of your other responsibilities when planning your workout. Don't jump into a program that requires you to workout more times a week than you have time for. Get a great workout three days a week and you will make great gains over the long run.

If you should miss a day, make sure that you make it up. Don't come up with excuses when it comes time to go workout. Get yourself into the gym and make it happen! You are responsible and must hold yourself accountable. Take this into consideration and you will be sure to reap the benefits once your start hitting your goals! Instant REWARDS!

We all make our own decisions. Decide that you are going to workout. Decide that you are going to get enough sleep, and eat the right kinds of foods on a consistent basis along with using the ViSalus meal replacement shakes. You have to decide how important your training is to you. Do you really want to make those gains or meet and exceed those goals?

Don't wait for a certain day to get started. Some people say, "I'm going to start a program on January 1st." Why wait until then? Do it now! What is so special about waiting until a date in the future? The longer you wait the harder it will be. Many people are enthusiastic in the beginning and then they start missing days until they quit going altogether. Get a realistic program started and be consistent!

Pumped for 2012 Weight Loss

Tricks for staying motivated all year long
Your New Year’s resolution should be just the motivation you need to keep you going strong this time of year. But as the year progresses, it’s common to feel the urgency of those resolutions slipping away. The next thing you know, they’re lying crumpled in a corner, only to be revisited next New Year.

Fortunately, we’ve got some great ideas to keep your program fresh, and to keep your incentive at an all-time high. They’ll help to give your program the boost it needs to carry you through the year—and beyond!

1. Think Outside the Box.
If things are getting ho-hum on your program, there are a million ways to spice up your favorite Nutrisystem® entrees. In fact, there are some great suggestions in the Recipe Center on our website.

But don’t limit the newness to entrees. Ever tried arugula? How about mango? Persimmons? The next time you’re in the grocery store, don’t just head toward your usual favorites. Pick out one new food, ask the produce manager how to prepare it, and give it a try!

2. Own It.
Beyond what you’re eating every day, one way to keep yourself from getting lax with your program is to be accountable for your actions—to both yourself and to other people. Take time to stop and think about how you’re following through on your commitment to a healthier lifestyle, and ask others around you if they’ve noticed any changes in how you’re living. Really make a concerted effort to be aware of all the choices you make in a day, especially when it comes to your weight loss. It sounds simple, but the more attention you pay to your program, the more it will mean to you, and the easier it will be to follow through with it. Accountability is a tremendous motivator.

3. Celebrate Your Victories.
If you’re like a lot of people, you minimize your successes and focus on your shortcomings or setbacks. Why not focus on the good things you’ve done instead? When you reach short-term or long-term goals like losing 5 or 25 pounds*, celebrate with a non-food reward, like a new pair of shoes or a book by your favorite author. And don’t just consider the scale victories, either. Celebrate the lifestyle victories, too, such as the first time you drive past your favorite fast-food restaurant without stopping, or resisting the birthday cake in the office.

Finally, never downplay your progress. When someone compliments you on the weight you’ve lost, accept the thanks proudly; don’t just shrug it off like it’s no big deal. Losing weight IS a big deal, and acknowledging it will infuse your program with energy.

4. Pardon You.
This is important: you need to lighten up on yourself when you falter. Don’t let one slip up kill your dream of being slimmer and healthier. It’s impossible to be perfect, and that’s true no matter what you’re doing. If you’re always berating yourself for falling short with your weight loss, it can be hard to keep going. You just end up feeling punished all the time. Instead, forgive yourself for any setbacks. Learn from the experience, then let it go and move on; you deserve a fresh start any time you want.

5. Think Back.
Why did you want to lose weight in the first place? To improve your health? To look better? To set an example for the family? Take a few minutes and remind yourself of all the reasons why you initially wanted to lose weight. Remember how you felt just before you joined the program and be as specific as possible:

• Movie or airplane seats were challenges
• You constantly ran out of energy
• Someone made a rude comment
• You really didn’t like the clothes choices you had
• You felt self-conscious about your appearance
• You had medical concerns

The more examples you can come up with, the more motivation you’ll build. Try it and see!
Your New Year’s resolution should be just the motivation you need to keep you going strong this time of year. But as the year progresses, it’s common to feel the urgency of those resolutions slipping away. The next thing you know, they’re lying crumpled in a corner, only to be revisited next New Year.

Healthy Holidays - Lose Love Handles!

Tis the Season! Once again the biggest holiday is upon us and is it just me or does it seem like it creeped up on us very fast this year? I am sure others feel the same stress as I do making sure you do your very best to make it a successful and fun holiday. In doing this, and the hustle and bustle and stress that accompanies the holidays, we still must be mindful of sticking to our goals and making sure we do not derail our weight loss plan that we have worked so hard to get thus far.

I hear this all the time, "it only comes once a year!" That is correct but for those of us dedicated to losing weight and getting fit, we cant use this an excuse. Relatives, cocktail parties, the parade of chocolates and cookies seem to continue longer and into the New Year.

The trouble comes in our indulgence for a long period of time to these treats. If, however you are currently on the Visalus challenge, you will be ahead of the pack if you can stick to it as close as possible without sacrificing or being miserable. The season is for everyone to enjoy and just because your wanting to drop a few pounds doesn't mean you cant enjoy the holidays. For this reason I offer these tips and advice to make sure everyone enjoys a happy and healthy holiday season.
